We touched on the Nokia P1 rumors before, but now some more details regarding the device’s specs have surfaced. So let’s check out what’s all the buzz is about.
The Nokia P1 Allegedly Features Snapdragon 835 & Card Zeiss Camera Lens Along With Other Interesting Specifications
Rumored reports are suggesting that Nokia has plans to launch not one, not two, but SEVEN devices this year alone in an attempt to make a thumping statement on its return to the smartphone industry. HMD Global and Nokia got embroiled in a controversy last month. If HMD Global’s reports have any scintilla of truth in them, we might be treated to seven Nokia smartphone this year. Nokia doesn’t look like holding any horses when it comes to offering high-end specs for its flagship device named the Nokia P1. Expect lots more in terms of specs than we have saw in the mid-range Nokia 6 phone released last month.
Nokia and Qualcomm have been in the thick of an interesting news lately. According an anonymous source, Qualcomm unwittingly displayed the yet-to-be-unveiled Nokia smartphone. The alleged device in the center of the controversy was dubbed as the Nokia 8. However, soon afterwards, both Qualcomm and Nokia rushed to rebuff any such claims by stating that there was no such device on display at Qualcomm’s booth at the CES 2017 event held in January. The rumored device was said to have a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor along with other premium hardware specs. But soon after the denial from both companies, another bit of leak surfaced, which showed that the rumored device is actually named the Nokia p1, not the Nokia 8.
The source of today’s rumor related to the Nokia P1 is from China. According to the claim made in this leak, the upcoming Nokia P1 will feature Snapdragon 835 and Carl Zeiss camera lenses. This rumor has been accompanied by the rendered images of the Nokia flagship device. As you can see in the Nokia P1 renders above that the device looks different from the most traditional smartphone in terms of design with almost square design and ultra thing body, perhaps Sony Xperia comes closest to matching the design shown the renders. Moreover Carl Zeiss branding can be spotted at the back-end of the rendered images of the device.
As we discussed previously when touching on the topic of the Nokia related rumors that securing the steady supply of the latest Snapdragon 835 processors won’t be an easy tasks, since Samsung has already had a deal with Qualcomm that reserved the entire first batch of the 835 chips for its upcoming Galaxy S8. That’s why some sources close to Nokia’s supply chain are claiming that the Nokia P1 will be launched initially with the Snapdragon 821 processor with the refreshed model having Snapdragon 835 to be made available for sale later this year or earlier next year.
The Nokia P1 will allegedly feature a 5.7-inch QHD Super AMOLED displa, 64 & 128 GB internal storage option with an ability to extend storage via external microSD card, and a 24MP main back-end camera. The flagship phone will come with water and dust resistant technology. But do keep in mind that all this is still rumor and final details can only be confirmed after the official announcement by Nokia.
