Samsung Galaxy S8 May Not Feature A 3.5mm Headphone Jack

If the latest certifications filed by South Korean electronic giant Samsung are to be believed, we may not see a 3.5mm earphone jack on the upcoming Samsung Flagship smartphone. It’s been a relatively quiet year on phone redesign front, as most companies opted to go with incremental hardware boosts rather than complete physical redesign. Perhaps Samsung Galaxy Note 7, and Google Pixel and Pixel XL would be exceptions to this mobile upgrade trend. Galaxy Note 7 featured an Iris Scanner technology, the first of its kind on any smartphone. But as well all know by now a series of unfortunate incidents involving Galaxy Note 7 explosions did hurt sales of the device. In order to make up for the losses incurred on the Galaxy Note 7, Samsung is trying to rush the launch of the its next smartphone, the Galaxy S8. Let’s hope this time Samsung get its act together and release a sturdier device than the Note 7. With the news of early arrival of Galaxy S8, leaks and rumors have started to surface thick and fast lately. Latest leaks about rumored Galaxy S8 are discussed below.

Samsung May Ditch The 2.5mm Headphone Jack In The Upcoming Galaxy S8 Smartphone As Per Latest Rumors

Apple, just like what it did with DVD/CD drive on MACs, sent ripples across the tech industry with its decision of getting rid of earphone jack on iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus. As we are well familiar with tech industry trends by now that anything new Apple does, it’s a matter of matter of time before other companies start to follow in the Apple’s lead. Latest information regarding Galaxy S8 leaked by some insider sources suggests that Apple is soon to be joined by Samsung in ditching the 3.5mm earphone jack in the upcoming Galaxy S8 phone.

As of late the Samsung Galaxy S8 has been the hot topic as far as tech industry leaks and rumors are concerned. According to sources, the Galaxy S8 will house the Snapdragon 830 and the Exynos 8895 chipsets. Qualcomm has been given the contract to manufacture both the processor types for Galaxy S8. USB ported supported audio connection feature is also being reported for the Galaxy S8. Leaks are also hinting towards the Iris Scanner being joined by a dual camera lens, which means we can be sure to expect four camera sensors in the next Samsung flagship device.

The USB Audio Class 3.0 brings Type-C audio connectivity in the Galaxy S8 mobile. But the biggest news in the latest round of Galaxy S8 rumors is linked to the end of an era for the 3.5mm earphone jack on top-end Galaxy smartphones as Samsung is getting ready to pull the plug on the headphone jack on flagship phones from Galaxy S8 onward. Android manufacturers are wont to take cues from Apple when it comes to mobile hardware design, and since the Cupertino giant abandoned the use of 3.5mm headphone jack on its latest smartphone models, it is hardly any surprise to see major Android manufacturers gearing up to follow Apple’s lead. Samsung decision to drop 3.5mm headphone jack is all but confirmed if new certifications are to be believed.

In the Galaxy S8, we may also see a dual display with larger real estate. Leaks are indicating that Samsung could launch only curved screen iterations of the next year’s flagship mobile device. Whether Samsung would bring new material and design changes as well or stick with the current form factor, it remains to be seen. But one thing is certain after Note 7 fiasco, Samsung needs to get its act together sooner rather than later or else it risks losing hard-earned reputation in merciless tech industry known for fierce cut-throat competition.
