- Backup device data before starting.
- Make sure OEM unlocking and USB debugging is enabled on your device.
- Make sure you have original USB data cable to connect phone to PC.
- Disable Samsung Kies, antivirus and Windows firewall before using Odin for rooting.
- Your device battery should be above 50% level.
- Download Samsung USB Drivers and install on PC. Skip if they’re already installed.
- Download and extract Odin tool on computer.
- Download and extract CF Auto Root based on your device model number: G955F/FD | G955N | G955U | G955W
Note: Extracting files will give you Auto Root.tar file which you will need for rooting Galaxy S8 Plus.
How to Root Galaxy S8+ with CF Auto Root
1 – Extract and launch Odin.exe on your computer.
2 – On Odin, click on the AP button.
3 – Select the CF Auto Root.tar.md5 file from where you saved it on computer.
4 – Now to enter your device into Download Mode press and hold Volume Down + Home + Power keys simultaneously and keep pressing until you see download mode screen on your device.
5 – Connect your phone to computer via USB cable.
6 – Upon successful connection, the ID:COM box on Odin will turn blue. You should also see the Added!! status in the Log box on Odin.
7 – Now, click Option tab in Odin. Here, make sure only F. Reset Time option is ticked/enabled. Disable/uncheck all other options.
8 – Now hit the Start button on Odin to flash the Auto Root and wait for it to finish.
9 – Once complete, you will see a PASS! message box in green on Odin. You can now disconnect your phone from computer.
10 – Next, press the Volume Up + Down + Power Key to reboot your device.
11 – During reboot your will see a warning message saying that DM-Verity has been triggered and requires device reset when prompted. Here you need to reset your device to make it boot into the system. Skip this device reset step if you error message shows up during reboot.
12 – Once reset, you will be inside the device system where you can now install Root Checker to verify root status of your Galaxy S8 Plus.
13 – That’s it.
If, after root, you see a message about any unauthorized activity on your device, open the SuperSU app which will allow you to disable Samsung Knox to get rid of this unauthorized activity notification.
Sometimes rooting can cause your device to take longer than usual to reboot. In that case, boot your phone into the Recovery mode and wipe out cache partition. However, if that doesn’t fix long reboot issue, boot again into the recover mode and perform a factory data reset, after which it can take up to 10 or so minutes for phone to boot up, so be patient.
