iOS jailbreak fans are finally getting the news they have been waiting for as developers of the Pangu jailbreak announced that iOS 10.3 / iOS 10.3.1 jailbreak is almost ready and could get released anytime now. Installing iOS jailbreak can turn out to be a tricky task if you don’t have device ready with all the necessary tools required for successful jailbreak. In this post, we are going to help you prepare iOS 10.3/10.3.1 running iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch for the upcoming Pangu Jailbreak so that you don’t face issues during jailbreak process when the iOS 10.3.1 jailbreak eventually arrives.
The latest Pangu iOS 10.3.1 Jailbreak is going to work on 64-bit iOS devices. Pangu team behind iOS 10.3.1 / iOS 10.3 jailbreak teased snapshots of the jailbroken device running on iOS 10.3 a few day ago. Like all previous iOS jailbreaks, it’s recommended that you should prepare your device for the jailbreak before the release as it could cause serious damage to your device if you try to jailbreak without getting your device fully ready for it.
Like mentioned above, we are going to get Pangu iOS 10.3.1 / 10.3 jailbreak this or probably next week, according to rumors. It is important to have your device fully prepared for the jailbreak to easily free your 64-bit iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch from the Apple imposed restrictions on iOS.
Here are the steps that will guarantee that your iOS 10.3 / 10.3.1 device jailbreaks without damage and errors.
Backup Your Device Using iTunes or iCloud
This first step is basically straight forward and the one that you should perform on regular basis anyway. Creating a complete backup of your device data before performing any major software update or jailbreak is the first thing you should be doing. Connect your device to computer that has latest iTunes installed on it. Launch iTunes and click on Back Up Now button to save device data. This way you would be able to recovery working version of iOS if things don’t go according to plan during the jailbreak process.
Update Device To iOS 10.3.1
Next step should be to make sure that your device is running on the jailbreak compatible iOS version. In this case, it’s iOS 10.3.1, so update your device to the latest signed 10.3.1 firmware. Now if you are using a firmware such as iOS 10.2.1, which doesn’t have any jailbreak available for it, we suggest you upgrade your device to the iOS 10.3.1 via OTA update. And if you are rocking iOS 10.2 jailbreak on your device, then wait until the next Pangu jailbreak is actually released and then you can update to iOS 10.3.1 by flashing IPSW firmware file via iTunes. Here you can download iOS 10.3.1 IPSW or iOS 10.3 IPSW from links for iPhone/iPad and iPod. Since you won’t be able to downgrade/upgrade to iOS 10.3/10.3.1 via OTA update from Settings > General > Software Update once Apple stops signing these two firmware versions or if you are using a jailbroken device, therefore installing the latest signed firmware via IPSW links is the only available solution.
Save iOS 10.3.1 SHSH2 Blobs
Those who don’t know, once Apple stops officially signing an iOS firmware version, you can no longer downgrade or upgrade to that version. This is done by Apple to thwart jailbreak attempts. But there is a way to manually downgrade or upgrade your iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch to unsigned iOS version using Prometheus tool. Once you have downloaded Prometheus, here are the step on how to use the tool to flash unsigned iOS firmware on your device:
1 – First, note down the ECID number of your device. For that, connect your device to computer, launch iTunes and copy the ECID number shown under iOS device’s basic information on iTunes interface.
2 – Now, head over to this URL to access TSS Saver: tsssaver.1conan.com
3 – Scroll down the page and stop where you see Type ECID here… and copy and paste the ECID number from step 1. Make sure that Hex is select in the drop-down box.
Note: If you are using a jailbroken device and have used UDID Calculator to get ECID, then you might be prompted to select Decimal in the drop-down box instead of Hex.
4 – Next, below Identifier option, select your device model.
Step 5 – Once all required information has been entered, simply hit the Submit button after which you will get a link to download SHSH3 blobs and save them on your device.
Now Wait for the Jailbreak to be Released
Now that you have performed all required steps to get your device ready for the Pangu iOS 10.3.1 jailbreak, wait for the jailbreak solution to arrive and hope it’s sometime this week. No specific release date has been announced by the Pangu jailbreak team. So all we can do right now is to wait and watch.
