List Of Sony Xperia Devices Getting Android Nougat Update – [Updated]


Sony has starting rolling out Android 7.0 Nougat firmware update for Xperia series of smartphones. Here’s a complete list of all Sony Xperia device that are eligible for update to Android Nougat. Last week, some users of Xperia X phones reported that they have received official Android 7.0 Nougat update via OTA update. So far, Sony has confirmed that the official Android Nougat update for Xperia XZ and Xperia X performance has been released, users of the said devices can update their handsets to the latest Android firmware and start using its new features.

Sony Has Started Rolling Out Android 7.0 Nougat Update

Android 7.0 Nougat firmware update was already available on Google’s own Pixel lineup of devices. Moreover, Android Nougat update for Nexus devices has also been pushed. In fact, most Nexus and Pixel devices can even start using Android 7.1 Nougat beta, which can be installed via OTA update. And now other Android manufacturers have also started rolling out official Android Nougat firmware update for their device, and by the year end most devices of major Android OEMs should be updated to the official Android Nougat.

Samsung had begun its Android Nougat beta testing for Galaxy devices, which means official Android Nougat for Samsung Galaxy handsets is just around the corner. LG started Android Nougat update process last month. HTC devices have also been updated to Android Nougat, some HTC phones will be updated to official Nougat firmware this month.

Now it seems its Sony’s turn, as the company has started the process of releasing official Android Nougat firmware update for its flagship devices. Here’s Sony’s statement as to what Android Nougat features will become a part of the official firmware update.

This latest trend of fast adoption of the latest Android firmware by most OEMs is a welcoming trend. In the past, most Android manufacturers either desisted from issuing official firmware update straight away or issues months after is was released on Google’s own devices. But with Android Nougat this trend has changed, something which most Android users would surely appreciate.

Go to device’s settings to install the official Android 7.0 Nougat update via OTA method. If you don’t see Nougat update notification in Settings, don’t worry since Sony is releasing the update in phases, it may take some time before it reaches your region or country.
