Mark your calendars because the date of the biggest smartphone launch of this year has been made official by Samsung. MARCH 29Th, is the date set by Samsung for the release of its next lineup of Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus smartphones. Samsung has announced that its Galaxy Unpacked event will take place in New York where the South Korean tech giant will unveil highly anticipated set of phones.
The Scheduled date of March 29th for the launch event, that will take place in New York, has been officially released by Samsung along with a teaser video to whet the appetite of tech enthusiasts around the globe. It won’t be a stretch to say that this will be the biggest product launch for Samsung in many years because the company needs a massive comeback after the disastrous Galaxy Note 7 launch late last year.
Although last quarter results of 2016 showed Samsung managed to avoid the financial blow-back that was predicted after the Note 7 fiasco as the company posted one of its biggest ever quarters in terms of revenue to date. Despite that uplifting news, the company cannot afford to lower its guard because there is no guarantee the company will be able to deflect the financial and PR storm from back to back failed products.
The Galaxy S8 lineup of phones is already causing stir in tech circles. Level of anticipation has reached a fever pitch. Samsung had to suffer a loss of over $2 billion as a result of the global recall of the entire Galaxy Note 7 lineup, but rather surprisingly the South Korean giant weathered the storm in flying colors by managing to stem the magnitude of losses that could have causes irreparable damage to company’s reputation.
The upcoming Galaxy S8 launch couldn’t come soon enough as it gives the company a chance to prove that the Note 7 debacle was a one-off incident. Samsung needs to recover lost billions that it accrued after the Note 7 debacle. Moreover, it has to post substantial profits to compete with Apple as the Cupertino giant is also getting ready to throw a uniquely different smartphone in the ring later this year.
As is the case with any new phone launch, Samsung is trying to create a hype around its product through teaser posters and video clips. But the introductory video, as it should be, doesn’t give away too much as to how the device will look like or what specs it will boast. As you can see in the image shared here, only the top and bottom bezels can be seen in white color, nothing is visible on the sides, which indicates a bezel-less device as far as the sides are concerned. Moreover, rounded corners can also be seen in the image that look eerily similar to the corners on the new LG G6.
We are expecting Galaxy S8 to arrive in two variants: a 5.8-inch and a 6.2-inch display. But all this is still very much rumor, we will have to wait until the official launch event to see what Samsung has got lined up for us.
