Does the new OnePlus 5 smartphone have waterproof certification? Have you recently purchased a new OnePlus 5 smartphone launched this year by OnePlus, the makers of worldwide hit OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T. The new OnePlus 5 smartphone, which is the new flagship from OnePlus overtakes previous generation OnePlus 3/3T as the company main high-end phone. It had been in the new all year long amid much hype surrounding the highly anticipated Android mobile. The device was released as recently as last month. It has to be said that OnePlus 5 comes with an impressive build quality and features that one expects from a modern high-end smartphone. New specs mean slightly higher price for this year’s flagship from OnePlus than the previous models.
OnePlus 5 costs around hefty $500 per unit, which is quite a lot when you compare it with the price of OnePlus 3/3T. The company is justifying this price hike by saying that a completely redesigned dual-camera setup is well worth the jump in the final price.
Although, OnePlus 5 ticks most of the boxes when it comes to having features that most of us want to see on a smartphone these day, but, sadly, there is one omission that will not please everyone. We are talking about the absence of an IP65/68 certification. This means OnePlus 5 does not feature water and dust-proof technology on it.
You get most of the modern smartphone features on OnePlus 5 at a comapratively lower prices than the Apple iPhone and Samsung Galaxy S8/S8+ but that low price also comes with some standard features missing on the OnePlus phone, such as no water and dust-resistant technology, which is not good enough for a flagship phone in 2017.
OnePlus constantly claims to be the expensive flagship killer, and this makes the failure to secure water and dust resistant certification for its latest OnePlus 5 phone all the more disappointing. Cost consideration did play a part as OnePlus had to offset the cost of a dual-lens camera and other beefed up specs by sacrificing the inclusion of water-resistant technology on the OnePlus 5.
So, what are your thoughts on the OnePlus 5 not featuring water-resistant technology? Do you think the addition of a dual-camera was worth the sacrifice of ditching water-resistant certification on the OnePlus 5 to keep the final price lower than the rest of the competition?
