iPhone 8 Special Edition could also Feature a Curved Display like that of Samsung Galaxy Note 7

Apple has reportedly big up its sleeves to celebrate the 10th anniversary of its famous iPhone smartphone and iPhone 8 Special Edition may very well be that treat that Apple might throw at us in 2017. This special edition iPhone 8 could consist of an OLED panel which is a superior display technology with lower battery consumption. Apple never liked big screen smartphones citing it makes it difficult for one-handed use but with a 5.8-inch display, this is all about to change.

This larger size also gives more space to insert a bigger battery. Battery life of iPhone has always been average at best, but with bigger battery capacity we may see a longer lasting battery finally in an iPhone device. This, of course, depends on how much Apple will be willing to compromise on the thickness of the handset.

We can also gather from rumors that since TSMC is increasing the production of its 10nm FinFET node and A11 processor with more transistors, we may see a jump in the battery life.

And finally, Apple may include wireless charging technology in its next generation iPhone 8, according to a new patient application. The patient application, filed with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, shows images of a round charging device with a concave top, similar to the plastic wireless charger used by Apple watch.

With such as device, iPhone users will be able to charge their device by placing them on top of a new charging tool, which would be plugged into the mains, rather than attaching the iPhone directly using Apple’s lightening charger.

All this information should be taken with a grain of salt as it is but just rumors and gossip at this point. There is still a lot of time left before the launch of the next iPhone 8 smartphone and many things can change in the mean time.
