We have a hunch that Apple may unleash a complete revamped iPhone 8, or whatever it may decide to call it, to celebrate the 10th anniversary of its iconic smartphone. And according to the latest rumor, iPhone 8 may come out in a total of three models, with a new 5-inch iPhone 8 model. Apple seems all set to celebrate 10 years to the device that has been a primary reason in catapulting the Cupertino giant to the number 1 company in the world. This time, we may see now two but three iPhone models, with a new 5-inch iPhone model getting increasingly likely to launch with the regular screen size models. Here’s what else to expect in the next Apple flasgship.
iPhone 8 Reportedly to Launch in Three Models with All Glass Design
According to the sources privy to the iPhone 8 developments, the iPhone 8 allegedly will be manufactured in three models, with all three of them featuring a full glass design body, which will be the first time for an iPhone device. Apple is reported negotiating agreements with suppliers of OLED display panels, giving credence to rumors that we may finally see OLED display on iPhone. OLED panels produces sharper and brighter images, but allows for slimmer device models and less energy consumption resulting in longer battery life.
If new leaks are to be believed, OLED panels will make their way only on the high-end model that everyone had been anxiously waiting for quite some time now. This seems to Apple’s strategy to initially make OLED panel available only on premium model, and in two years time, in iPhone 8S may also get the OLED displays.
Based on the reports emerging out of the sources linked to Apple’s supply chain, iPhone 8 will be available in 5.5-inch, 5-inch and 4.7-inch displays. In some previous leaks, we heard the iPhone 8 may even feature a giant 5.8-inch display, leaving enough space available for slotting in larger battery. Here’s what the source had to say about the latest iPhone 8 development:
“Apple has tentatively decided that all the 5.5-inch, 5-inch and 4.7-inch models will have glass backs, departing from metal casings adopted by current iPhones, and Biel and Lens are likely to be providing all the glass backs for the new iPhones next year.”
Sources are also alluding to the possibility, the Chinese firm Biel Crystal Manufactory and Lens Technology are being tipped to supply glass panels for both front and back end of iPhone 8, which will be joined in a united whole by aluminium panel. Foxconn has been Apple’s traditional partner for supplying glass panels in the past. However, in iPhone 8, Biel Crystal and Lens may get the nod ahead of Foxconn for providing the glass panels. Wireless charging may finally be made available in iPhone 8, better late than never by Apple. As the next iPhone won’t feature the 3.5mm headphone jack, this additional space will prove useful for delivering a device on which you can listen to music while wirelessly charging the device at the same time.
