Here is a step-by-step guide to send any document and file in WhatsApp messenger app on Android devices. As you would know by now that in the recent WhatsApp updates, the developers of the world famous messenger application launcher a new sharing feature for Android and iOS devices. This new feature allows users to send and receive PDF files over the chat without leaving the app. Previously, we could share photo, images, videos and audio files with WhatsApp contacts, and now the new update includes PDF file share support. However, there is still no option that can be used to share popular document files such as doc (word document), xls (excel spreadsheets), and ppt (powerpoint). In this guide, we are going to show you a working solution that enables you to send and receive any documents file on WhatsApp messenger.
You don’t have to be a tech wizard to be able to manually activate document sharing feature with WhatsApp. The method below doesn’t require any third-party software, cloud service or app to facilitate file sending, receiving and sharing with contacts on the instant messenger application.
How to Send / Share any Document File in WhatsApp [ Android Trick ]
Before moving on to the main process, there are a few things to consider that are prerequisites to make this ‘any document sending’ trick work on WhatsApp. First of all make sure your device has root access enabled on it as this WhatsApp trick works only on rooted Android devices. Now that you have ensured that Android device is properly rooted and ready for this hack, let us take a moment and thank XDA member @yossijoe who came up with this trick of sharing any document file with WhatsApp.
Also, make sure that you have got the latest WhatsApp version installed on your device, or WhatsApp v2.12.493 or later. Once all the requirements have been fulfilled, you can follow the steps below to set your WhatsApp to send any document file with WhatsApp on Android.
1 – Update WhatsApp to the latest version.
2 – Download latest version of the ES File Explorer and install on your device.
3 – Now, launch the ES File Explorer, go to Device > Fast Access, and enable Root Explorer option.
4 – Next, head over to data/data/com.WhatsApp/shared_prefs/com.WhatsApp_preferences.xml and open com.WhatsApp_preferences.xml using ES Note Editor.
5 – Here, you will see the following string:
6 – Now, to add support for sharing other document types, simply add the following types next to PDF, such as:
7 – Once done, save the file after making the above changes to the WhatsApp and force close the app.
8 – After that, open WhatsApp and start sharing any document file such as work, excel or powerpoint in Whatsapp chat with your contacts.
