Just recently, a hidden code in Android 7.1 Nougat got cracked that allows users to take partial screenshot on their Nougat powered devices. Instead of taking a screenshot of an entire and then crop it for posting on social media or for saving purposes, you can now take a screenshot of only the section of the screen most relevant to your requirement. The partial screenshot feature can be come in as a handy tool to share screenshots of the precise information without having to post or share the whole screenshot. In order to enable partial screenshot feature on CM 14.1 running devices, you’ll need to edit the link 53 of TakeScreenshotService to TakeScreenshotPartial() in SystemUI. See the steps to learn how to do it.

Note:

Before following the installation steps below, please note that this mod may not work on all devices. So its advised that you create a Nandroid backup before installing the modded zip file so that you can restore to the previously working version if the installation method has started creating issues. We would also like to bring this into your notice that after installing the partial screenshot mod, you may no longer be able to use full screenshot feature on your device automatically. In such cases, you will need to drag fingers across the device display to select the area you wish to take a screenshot of.
