Here’s how to enable partial screenshot on CM14.1 based ROMs on Android devices. Android Nougat is Google’s latest mobile firmware. Android Nougat is the most feature packed Android firmware to date. But there are many hidden features in Android Nougat that many don’t know about. Just recently, a hidden code in Android 7.1 Nougat got cracked that allows users to take partial screenshot on their Nougat powered devices. Instead of taking a screenshot of an entire and then crop it for posting on social media or for saving purposes, you can now take a screenshot of only the section of the screen most relevant to your requirement. The partial screenshot feature can be come in as a handy tool to share screenshots of the precise information without having to post or share the whole screenshot. In order to enable partial screenshot feature on CM 14.1 running devices, you’ll need to edit the link 53 of TakeScreenshotService to TakeScreenshotPartial() in SystemUI. Thanks to an XDA member and developer J0SH1X who uploaded a zip file containing the feature to enable partial screenshot on Android device, we can now easily get this great new feature for free. In the method below, we have shared steps needed to enable partial screenshots on CM14.1 or any other version of CM based ROMs. Although, the mod can be found on the LG G4 forums in XDA but it works perfectly on Nexus 6, OnePlus One, OnePlus 3 as long as they’re running on CM14.1 or earlier ROMs. This mod will install a slightly tweaked SystemUI with partial screenshot enabled on your device.
Before following the installation steps below, please note that this mod may not work on all devices. So its advised that you create a Nandroid backup before installing the modded zip file so that you can restore to the previously working version if the installation method has started creating issues. We would also like to bring this into your notice that after installing the partial screenshot mod, you may no longer be able to use full screenshot feature on your device automatically. In such cases, you will need to drag fingers across the device display to select the area you wish to take a screenshot of. As soon as you lift your fingers from the display, a screenshot of that area will be taken.
How To Enable Partial Screenshot On Devices With CM14.1 ROMs:
1 – Download the Partial Screenshot MOD zip file for CM14.1 devices from the link below.
2 – Move the downloaded file to your device storage.
3 – Create a Nandroid backup to be on a safe side if anything goes wrong.
4 – Enter your device’s TWRP recovery menu, and select Install option.
5 – Now select the MOD+partial+Screenshots+cm14.1.zip file and swipe to start the flashing process.
6 – Once done, reboot your device into the normal mode from the main recovery menu.
7 – That’s all.
After your device reboots, press and hold Power + Volume Down buttons and drag your finger over the area which you wish to capture in a screenshot.
