Netflix in its recent update brought a much needed offline viewing feature which enables users to download content such as movies and TV shows in a few simple steps so that they can watch it offline, during travelling, in areas with slow or no internet access, and similar other situations.
How To Download Netflix Content To Watch Offline
Although Netflix’s new feature for downloading movies and shows for offline viewing is pretty straightforward, but many users are finding it hard to figure out how to use this feature. For all of them, we’re going to share a guide below on how to use Netflix offline download feature. There are also some useful tips in the guide below for adjusting the quality of the downloaded content if its not up to the mark as it should be.
Before proceeding, do note that this feature is currently available only on iOS and Android version of Netflix. Also, for now, not everything is available for download, some content is except from offline viewing.
1 – First of all, update to the latest version of Netflix on your mobile device, if you haven’t already done so.
2 – Now launch the Netflix app on your device and tap on the hamburger menu icon located on the top-left cornet of the Netflix app interface.
3 – Next, in the resulting menu, tap on the Available for Download option. This will take you to the content currently available for download from Netflix. The downloadable content will keep on changing with new movies and shows bring added or the current ones removed from the list. So, keep an eye on what’s available for download.
4 – Also note that the content available for download will vary from country to country, depending on Netflix’s policy. Now, in the download section, content is categorize as Recently Added and Because you watched.
5 – Tap on the category and then on a movie or TV show that you wish to download for offline viewing.
6 – When you tap on a movie or show, Netflix takes you to a dedicated page for that dedicated page for the selected content with ‘download’ button next to the description or available episode.
7 – Tap on the download button to start the download process. Here, you can choose to stop or pause the download as well. Moreover, in the download section, you’ll see a list of all items that you’re downloading and have already downloaded.
8 – When the download is complete, you’ll see a small phone icon on the right-hand side of the device with a check mark on it indicating a successful download.
9 – That’s all. Your downloaded Netflix content is available for viewing even without an active internet connection.
Please note that the content you download from Netflix can be of varying quality. HD content takes more time to download and more space on your device. But you can adjust the quality of the content.
For that, tap again on the hamburger icon menu, tap on Settings, and then select Download section. Here, you’ll be able to control how to download content, whether over a WiFi or a cellular network. You can also choose to download in Standard or high quality by navigating to Video Quality section and change it to the desired output quality.
