iOS 10 beta 2 is available for download on iPhone 6S, iPhone 6S Plus, iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus, SE, 5S, 5C, 5, iPad 4 or later and iPhone 6th-generation. Here in this guide we are going to explain in step-by-step guide how to download and install iOS 10 beta 2 on iPhone, iPad and iPod. So far only developer version of iOS 10 has been released which users who are registered with Apple Developer Program can access on their devices for testing and bug finding before the full and final release in September. If your device is not on the list then i am afraid you are out of luck because iOS 10 doesn’t work on devices not listed above. One other thing to note, Apple restricts or blocks some features for certain iOS devices, so don’t be alarmed if you can’t access some of the new iOS 10 features in the beta version on certain supported devices above, it’s mainly due to hardware limitation that certain functions are better left out from access on older devices even though they are supported by the mobile software.
Download and Install iOS 10 Beta on iPhone, iPad and iPod:
Following guide is going to explain the process of installing iOS 10 beta on iDevices. Keep in mind that since it is beta version, therefore, some errors and bugs are expected, since the whole purpose of beta version is to identify bugs before the final version release. So, download and install iOS 10 beta on devices you have reserved for testing purposes. Use it on Primary iPhone, iPad or iPod at you own discretion. Also, make complete backup of the device on iTunes or iCloud before proceeding with the install.
How to download and Install iOS 10 Beta:
Step 1 – If you haven’t registered with App Developer Program then click here and enroll as Apple developer. Existing developers program users can skip to the next step.
Step 2 – Login to your Apple Developer Program account with official Apple ID. Click here to login.
Step 3 – Register your device’s UDID on which you intend to install the beta upgrade. Here how to find UDID of your device:
- Connect your device with PC and open iTunes
- Select your device on iTunes
- Next click on the device serial number to see UDID and copy it
Step 4 – On your main Apple Developer Program account, click Certificated, Identifiers & Profiles. In devices section click All devices and choose your device from the list.
A new panel window open on the right side, click ‘+’ and and enter name and UDID of your iOS device.
Step 5 – Next go to Develop > Download (click here for direct link). Choose your device from drop down list to download iTunes supported iOS 10 beta firmware file on PC.
Or you can download the beta version using OTA method. For that, open this link here, login, then click ‘Download’ option under iOS 10 beta and next to ‘Configuration Profile’ and install it on your device. Restart the device. When the device come back on your profile will be set. Now go to Settings > General > Software Update, wait until iOS 10 Beta OTA update appears on the screen and hit download and install button.
Step 6 – Back on iTunes method, open iTunes, connect your device with PC Windows or Mac.
Step 7 – Install the downloaded iOS 10 beta file. iTunes does not directly allows you to choose ipsw firmware file, so follow instructions below:
- Mac Users: Press Alt key and click Restore iPhone/iPad/iPod
- Windows Users: Press Shift key and click Restore iPhone/iPad/iPod
Step 8 – Wait for the iOS 10 beta to install on your device.
Step 9 – Restart your device when the install is complete. Next time your device turns back on, you will be greeted with latest iOS 10 beta message.
Install iOS 10 beta without Apple Developer Account and UDID:
Step 1 – Open Safari browser on your iOS device.
Step 2 – Download iOS 10 beta configuration profile here on your device.
Step 3 – Enter your device name if asked ‘on which device would you like to install this profile?’ such as iPhone, iPad or iPod and on the next screen hit the install button. This will restart your device.
Step 4 – When the come back on, go to settings > general > software update where you will see new iOS 10 beta version waiting to be installed. Tap Download and Install button and wait for it to install.
When the reboot is complete your device will now have iOS 10 beta installed on it with latest features.
