Facebook has finally launched official Instagram for Windows 10 PC & Tablet devices. Instagram for Windows mobile was released back in April and now you can download Instagram for Windows 10 powered PC desktop, laptop and tablet. Instagram for Windows 10 is a free standalone app which you can download from Windows Store. Here’s what you get in Instagram for Windows 10.
Instagram for Windows 10 PC/Tablet is Available for Download
You can now download and install official Instagram for Windows 10 PC and tablet through Windows Store. Instagram on Windows 10 PC has all popular features already available on its mobile version – you can view stories, browser feed, send and receive direct messages. Moreover, you can access Instagram profile, search popular photos & hashtags, and use the Explorer tab function to find out what’s trending on Instagram.
Until now, although you could access Instagram via web browser using Instagram web version but it lacked features such as sharing on social media apps like Messenger and Facebook. With official Instagram for Windows 10, you can share photos directly from the context menu without leaving the app. Click on the three-dotted ‘…’ icon to access the share option. It bodes well for PC users that Instagram for Windows official app now offers same functions as its mobile counterpart.
As we all know that Instagram is all about posting photos on the photo sharing app, and this all important feature is also available on the Instagram for Windows 10 PC desktop and tablet app. But to make the full use of this feature, you will need a touch screen enabled laptop/tablet, backward facing camera or PC webcam. Instagram for Windows 10 is mainly designed to run on Windows 10 powered touchscreen devices; it works great on touchscreen tablets, laptops but on PCs you should expects subtle image distortion or pronounced white spaces around photos but its not something alarming.
You can use trackpad gestures to use the app’s many features on Instagram for Windows 10 PCs. Controls work best on touchscreen tablets and laptops. For scrolling through your Instagram feed using two finger trackpad features. Swipe left to quickly access direct messages. Instagram for Windows 10 is still in nebulous phase, future update should improve on some aspects lacking in the current version including a revamped user-interface and better image clarity.
As you can see in the sample images, there are large white margins on either sides of the photos. This sure does not look pleasing at first, Facebook could have used this empty space for showing comments and likes, or for showing suggestions. This we are sure will be addressed in future updates as more users provide their feedback regarding areas that need fine tuning.
Nevertheless, Instagram for Windows 10 was long overdue and PC users would surely appreciate that at least they will be able to use most of the feature already found in Instagram’s mobile version.
