MacBook and MacBook Pro fans may want to look away because the newly released survey of the best and worst laptop brands of 2017 presents a dismal picture for Apple’s laptops based on year-to-year rankings of the top laptop brands in the world. Windows powered laptops have once again managed to solidify their position as the best in the business leaving products from the Cuperino giant way behind in terms of performance, style, hardware, value for money, and range of other characteristics. In fact Apple laptops are now ranked at 5th place, down three places from last year. While Levono jumped up three places to grab the top on the best laptops rankings chart for 2017. So, what are the reasons behind this Macbook Pro slump? Are 2016 Models to blame along with their steep prices? Let’s find out the details.

It’s a well known fact that Apple prides itself on producing stylish products to justify premium prices. MacBook Pro laptops are no different in this regard. Apple gave its best when designing the 2016 lineup of the MacBook Pro laptops that feature an industry leading track pad technology, excellent build quality, an all-new touch bar, and decent hardware. But despite all that, MacBook failed to make an impression according to the latest survey of the best and worst laptops 2017, which was released earlier today. Apple now shares a joint 5th spot with Acer on the table of best laptops of 2017, which is three places below from where it was last year. So, there must be something with the late MacBook Pro 2016 models that has contributed to this slump in the rankings.

Apple MacBooks 2016 models have been subjected to constant criticism from different tech quarters. Analysts lambasted Apple for removing SD card slot, bringing older processor, aesthetically unpleasing track pad causing accidental touches when typing, and not to mention the enormous prices of the new machines that, according to some, don’t justify improvements in specs.

Absurdly High Prices Are Being Considered The Chief Reason Behind MacBooks Falling Down On The Latest Laptop Rankings List

Lets admit that Apple laptop still leave many Windows counterparts way behind in many respects. The design, build quality, speakers, track pad, display have always been top-notch and never fail to attract praises from critics. Apple’s tech support services and warranty coverage are among the best in the laptop business. But, there is one aspect the Cupertino tech firm never compromises and that’s the prices of its products, and the new MacBook Pro lineup is no different.

Mark Spoonauer from Laptop EIC is of the view that there are multitude of factors at play which ultimately impacted Apple laptops position on the list of latest 2017 rankings. He says that MacBooks fared worse than last year when compared to other top laptop brands because of the unrealistically high prices coupled with hardware which fell below the expectations of professionals. He went on to suggest that the tech giant needs to reevaluate its entire laptop positioning strategy in the market otherwise lackluster show of the latest MacBooks could drive Mac loyalists away to Windows alternatives.

Another major factor behind the dismal reception that 2016 Apple laptops received relates to the restriction on RAM upgrades on MacBook, which allows users to upgrade RAM only up to maximum 16GB. Most Windows 10 powered notebooks and laptops can be configured to house up to 32GB of RAM. So, this limited RAM options on the MacBook proved to be another reason many critics and professionals alike stayed away from refreshed 2016 models.
